Wayfarer have finally done it with World’s Blood, and by “it”, I mean join the ranks of great American black metal bands that are not merely from the United States, but actually sound American. Though different enough from Cobalt and Panopticon, Wayfarer excel in creating a very convincing atmosphere, which to me feels like travelling on horseback through the desert in the middle of summer, with threats both from nature and man all around, out of sight until they reach out and touch you. Outstanding riffs (tremolo and otherwise), meaningful bass, thunderous drums, and another stunning Colin Marston production job make this an exceptional musical journey. And my fuck, that album cover! Keep staring at it (a large version), and you will notice more details. Highly recommended.
